Why use vegan haircare?
At Phil Smith Be Gorgeous, we’re proud to hold vegan credentials. We vehemently believe that beauty products should be cruelty free and are proud to be Leaping Bunny approved. A global programme, Leaping Bunny requires cruelty free standards over and above legal requirements.
What makes haircare vegan?
Quite simply, haircare is vegan when absolutely no animals are involved in the process; from ingredients to testing.
Sustainability
One of the key reasons to use vegan shampoo & conditioner is because it’s more beneficial for the environment. Choosing vegan haircare products reduces the need to use animals as a resource and puts fewer chemicals into the environment.
By avoiding non-vegan products, you’re avoiding ingredients that are likely to be non-biodegradable. This means that they can’t be broken down once they enter the drainage system.
Natural Ingredients
With naturally-derived ingredients, vegan hair formulations are gentler on the hair and scalp - using plant oils keeps the hair hydrated as well as repairing damage.
Make sure you’re aware of the ‘hidden’ ingredients that can often be found in hair and beauty products such as…
- Lanolin - made from sheep's wool
- Shellac - made from lac insects
- Stearic acid - often made from animal fat
- Squalene - often derived from shark liver
- Keratin - comes from the hair and horns of animals
The all new Be Gorgeous range uses 100% recycled plastic that can be recycled again. We are moving away from single use plastic and looking at how we can make more sustainable decisions that allow you to do the same.
